The Tree That Sang to Me is a dyslexia-friendly verse novel of empathy, family and self-discovery (9y+)
Wider Than The Sea is the story of a girl who is broken and a dolphin who makes her whole again (9y+)
I’m a children’s writer and I live in Galway, Ireland. As a mum of four, my house is always noisy but never, ever dull! I worked for a long time as an English teacher and I love helping children to discover the magic of books. I’ve also worked as a sixth century monk in a heritage park and as a burger-flipper in a fast food restaurant! I like writing stories about children who find themselves in difficult situations and have to find the courage to discover a way out. My stories are a celebration of empathy, neurodiversity and the power to change. I love poetry so I write my novels in verse, I think we are all poets deep down inside our hearts.
I’m available for school visits and festivals
”Serena’s message to the students and teachers was both uplifting and inspirational. I have no doubt that she has left a lasting impression on the children.”
